Approved by the People's Government of Henan Province and registered with the Ministry of Education, our college is a public provincial higher vocational college entitled to offer full-time general higher academic education programs. It has earned a range of prestigious titles, including Civilized School of Henan Province, National Civilized Unit in the Water Conservancy Sector, Provincial High-Quality Higher Vocational College of Henan Province, National High-Quality Water Conservancy Higher Vocational College, Third Batch of Modern Apprenticeship Pilot Units of the Ministry of Education, Pilot College for the Ministry of Education’s 1+X Certificate System, Construction Unit of the High-Level Higher Vocational Schools and High-Level Specialty Construction Project of Henan Province, Reserve College for the National Education Power Promotion Project during the 14th Five-Year Plan Period, Approved Construction Unit of the Third Batch of National Vocational Education Teacher Innovation Teams, and Selected Construction Unit of National Vocational College Informatization Benchmark Schools.

Excellent School-running Conditions

Tracing its roots back to the Henan Water Conservancy School founded in 1955, the college launched higher vocational education programs in 2002. Covering a total area of 474,667 square meters (712 mu), it comprises two campuses:

The Huayuan Road Campus is strategically located in the middle section of Huayuan Road, Jinshui District – the central urban area of Zhengzhou. Boasting convenient transportation and living facilities, the campus features an elegant environment with lush flowers, dense trees, and green lawns, exuding a rich historical and cultural atmosphere that makes it an ideal place for study and research.

The Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone Campus is situated in the Shuanghe Lake Area in the southern part of the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Comprehensive Experimental Zone, adjacent to Zone B of the Garden Expo Park. Initially completed and put into use in 2020, it has a planned construction area of over 300,000 square meters. Upon full completion, this new campus will evolve into an intelligent, garden-style educational complex.

The college’s total value of experimental and training equipment amounts to 130 million yuan. It currently houses 1 national productive training base certified by the Ministry of Education, 1 collaborative innovation center, 22 on-campus simulation training centers, and 102 off-campus internship, training and employment bases. With a collection of 1.14 million physical and electronic books, the library provides access to more than 20 literature databases, including CNKI Series Databases and Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform.

The campus is equipped with modern facilities such as a high-speed campus network, a data center computer room, multimedia teaching environments, and electronic reading rooms. A one-stop informatization service platform has been established to support office work, teaching activities, and student daily life, realizing the "one-card" management system for dining, access control, safe electricity usage, and public bathing. The entire campus is fully covered by both wired and wireless networks, earning it the titles of Standardized Digital Campus and Henan Provincial Vocational Education Informatization Benchmark School awarded by the Department of Education of Henan Province. All student dormitories are managed in an apartment-style manner and are fully equipped with air conditioners.

The college has a team of 1,128 full-time and part-time teachers, among whom 460 hold postgraduate degrees or above. The faculty includes outstanding talents such as 5 Henan Provincial High-Level Talents, 1 New Century Excellent Talent of the Ministry of Education, 1 Science and Technology Innovation Leader of the "Zhongyuan Talent Plan" of Henan Province, 5 Henan Provincial Vocational Education Teaching Experts, 3 Henan Provincial Academic and Technical Leaders, 10 Excellent Educational Management Talents of the Department of Education of Henan Province, 21 Academic and Technical Leaders, 5 Teaching Masters, 13 Young Backbone Teachers, 9 Provincial-level Masters of Henan Vocational Colleges, 21 Provincial-level Backbone Teachers of Henan Vocational Colleges, 5 National Water Conservancy Vocational Education Masters, 4 National Water Conservancy Vocational Education Rising Stars, and 1 Chief Technician of the National Water Conservancy System.

In terms of team building, the college has 1 approved national vocational education teacher innovation team and 2 approved provincial vocational education teacher teaching innovation teams of Henan Province. It has won 1 National Teaching Achievement Award and 3 Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards. The college also hosts 1 national "Collaborative Innovation Center for Environmental Engineering Technology", 1 national "Productive Water Treatment Training Base", and 6 provincial-level scientific research platforms including Henan Engineering Research Centers.

In the field of scientific research, the college has obtained 91 department-level achievement awards (including 24 first prizes, 40 second prizes, and 27 third prizes), published more than 1,200 academic papers (including 84 core journal papers and 26 papers indexed by EI/SCI), secured 487 patents (including 35 invention patents), and published 153 textbooks and monographs.

Rational Professional Layout

The college comprises 10 teaching departments, namely the Department of Water Conservancy Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Department of Information Engineering, Department of Economics and Management, Department of Environmental Engineering, Basic Teaching Department, Ideological and Political Teaching Department, Physical Education Department, and Art Teaching Department. It offers 56 majors and 19 professional directions spanning 8 categories, including Water Conservancy, Civil Engineering and Architecture, Resource Environment and Safety, Equipment Manufacturing, Electronics and Information, Finance and Business, Transportation, and Energy, Power and Materials.

Among these programs, Water Conservancy and Hydropower Construction Engineering and Engineering Surveying Technology are national-level backbone majors; Water Conservancy Engineering is a national high-quality water conservancy major; Construction Engineering Technology, Computer Application Technology, and Environmental Engineering Technology are provincial-level backbone majors; Water Conservancy and Hydropower Construction Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, and Computer Application Technology are provincial-level comprehensive reform pilot majors; and Water Conservancy and Hydropower Construction Engineering and Internet of Things Application Technology have been approved as construction projects of Henan Provincial Vocational Education Demonstrative Specialty Sites.

In terms of teaching resources, the college has 8 textbooks included in the national planning textbook list, 12 textbooks included in the Henan Provincial "14th Five-Year Plan" Vocational Education Planning Textbook List, 23 provincial-level high-quality online open courses, 13 provincial-level curriculum ideological and political demonstration courses, and 3 provincial-level professional teaching resource databases.

Remarkable Education Achievements

The college currently has 23,000 enrolled students. Over the past five years, the employment rate of graduates has remained above 97%, and the number of students admitted to undergraduate programs through the junior college to undergraduate upgrade examination accounts for about 20% of the total number of graduates.

Students have achieved outstanding results in various competitions, such as the National Vocational College Skills Competition, Henan Provincial Higher Vocational College Skills Competition, and National Water Conservancy Higher Vocational College Skills Competition, winning more than 180 awards in total (including 3 first prizes, 2 second prizes, and 3 third prizes in national competitions, and 18 first prizes in the National Water Conservancy Higher Vocational College Skills Competition).

The college has been awarded the title of "Advanced Collective in Employment Work of General Colleges and collegeies Graduates in Henan Province" for three consecutive times, and has also won honors such as "Advanced Collective of the National Water Conservancy System", "Advanced Collective of Vocational Education in Henan Province", and "Advanced Collective of the Education System in Henan Province".

Extensive International Exchanges

The college has obtained approval from the Department of Education of Henan Province for its Sino-foreign cooperative education programs, including Construction Engineering Technology jointly offered with SEGi University Malaysia, Water Conservancy and Hydropower Construction Engineering jointly offered with MAHSA University Malaysia, and Big Data Technology jointly offered with University of Bolton, UK.

Cooperation agreements have been signed with Bangkok Thonburi University, Thailand for the joint offering of undergraduate programs in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Accounting, and with Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics for the joint offering of undergraduate programs in Information Systems and Technology, and Programmable Mobile Systems. The college has also established more than 10 overseas employment bases, creating channels for students to pursue employment and further studies abroad. To date, more than 150 graduates have gone abroad for study or employment.
