The School of Environment and Ecology offers eight majors, namely Environmental Engineering Technology, Environmental Engineering Technology (Sino-German International Cooperation), Environmental Monitoring Technology, Ecological Environment Restoration Technology, Intelligent Environmental Protection Equipment Technology, Landscape Engineering Technology, Landscape Architecture Design, and Landscape Architecture Design (Digital Landscape Technology). Among them, Environmental Engineering Technology is a Henan Provincial Key Major and a pilot major for the third batch of the modern apprenticeship system under the Ministry of Education.

The School currently hosts two provincial-level research platforms: the Henan Provincial Research Center for Environmental Protection and Restoration Technology and the Henan Provincial Research Center for Aquatic Ecological Intelligent Equipment Engineering Technology. It also has an Environmental Engineering Training Center serving environmental majors, which consists of the Chemical Analysis Laboratory, the Water Treatment Simulation Laboratory, the Pure Water Preparation Laboratory, the Spectroscopy Laboratory, the Atomic Absorption Laboratory, the Gas Chromatography Laboratory, the Liquid Chromatography Laboratory, and the Microbiology Laboratory. In addition, there are specialized laboratories and training rooms for the majors of Landscape Engineering Technology and Landscape Architecture Design, including the Drawing Room, the Cartography Room, the Floristry Training Room, the Virtual Simulation Training Room for Landscape Planning and Design, and the Landscape Engineering Training Room.

The School has a faculty of 65 members, including one expert with special government allowance from the State Council, one outstanding expert of Henan Province, one science and technology leader of Henan Province, two academic and technical leaders recognized by the Education Department of Henan Province, one vocational education expert of Henan Province, two famous vocational education teachers of Henan Province, three professors (including one second-class professor), and six associate professors, as well as 20 lecturers. Among the professional teachers, six hold doctoral degrees, 43 have master’s degrees, and 27 are "dual-qualified" teachers. In addition, the School has engaged 10 external part-time professors and teachers. In the past three years, faculty members of the School have compiled or co-compiled 22 unified textbooks; presided over or participated in 23 provincial and departmental-level research projects, among which 13 have won first or second prizes at the departmental level; authored and published more than 70 academic papers (including over 10 SCI-indexed papers and more than 20 papers in Chinese core journals); obtained 15 national invention patents and utility model patents; and provided more than 20 technical services for enterprises, such as tackling key technical problems and promoting projects. In 2024, in the national final of the Virtual Simulation of Landscape Design Contest under the Belt & Road and BRICS Competition of Skills Development and Technology Innovation, the teacher team won the Gold Medal, and the student team won one Silver Medal and one Bronze Medal, respectively. In the national final of the Virtual Simulation of Floristry Skills Contest under the same event, the student team claimed two first prizes, and the teacher team took home one second prize. Additionally, the College won the Bronze Medal in the Environmental Inspection and Monitoring (Higher Vocational College Group) at the final round (knockout stage) of the World Vocational College Skills Competition.

Since its founding, the School has attached great importance to connotative development. At present, it boasts two national-level education and teaching programs, one national planned textbook, two provincial-level scientific research platforms, one provincial-level virtual simulation base, one provincial-level demonstration base for talent cultivation, two provincial-level teacher training bases for the 1+X certificate system, two provincial-level curriculum-based ideological and political teaching teams, one provincial-level professional resource database, three provincial-level online high-quality courses, one provincial-level first-class core course, one provincial-level excellent textbook, one provincial-level model Party branch and one provincial-level key major.

The School has adopted a talent cultivation model characterized by "post-oriented training and project-driven learning". It encourages students to "learn by practicing and practice by learning", and conducts teaching activities along three main lines of "enterprises, college and students". This model has effectively enhanced students' professional qualities, specialized skills, innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities as well as comprehensive employability. For many years, the employment rate has remained steadily above 95%. In the past three years, the School has organized students to participate in the national and Henan provincial vocational college skills competitions and innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, winning a total of 19 first, second and third prizes.
