The School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering offers eight majors, including Mechatronics Technology, Industrial Robot Technology, Electrical Automation Technology, CNC Technology, Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, Digital Design and Manufacturing, Intelligent Control Technology, and Industrial Internet Application. Among them, Mechatronics Technology is a demonstrative major of vocational education of Henan Province; and the major group of Mechatronics Technology is a key construction major group of Henan Vocational College of Water Conservancy and Environment. All these majors fall under the key development fields of "Made in China 2025".

The School is home to the Henan Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center for Hydropower Equipment and Smart Systems, and the Zhengzhou Municipal Engineering Research Center for Water Conservancy and Hydropower Intelligent Equipment. It has two provincial-level Skill Master Studios, one provincial-level Craftsman Laboratory, one college-level Mechanical Parts Testing Center, and one college-level Scientific Research and Innovation Team for Intelligent Equipment. The School is equipped with over 30 training rooms and centers, including the Advanced Manufacturing Training Room, General Machine Tool Training Room, Electronic Innovation Training Room, Intelligent Manufacturing Training Center, Virtual Simulation Training Center, Mechanical Product Quality Inspection Training Room, Electrical and Electronic Training Room, Industrial Robot Training Room, 3D Printing Training Room, UAV Training Room, and Industrial Network Training Room, with the total value of the equipment reaching more than RMB 20 million. It boasts a team of 44 full-time teachers, including one professor, nine associate professors, and more than 30 individuals holding a master's degree. The team includes one provincial-level famous teacher and four core teachers of vocational colleges in Henan Province. Over the past four years, the professional teaching team has compiled two textbooks included in the first batch of the Henan Provincial Planned Textbooks for Vocational Education under the 14th Five-Year Plan; obtained 72 authorized patents, including 11 invention patents; secured 32 research projects at or above the municipal and departmental level; and published 59 academic papers, including five indexed by SCI/EI and 12 accepted by Chinese core journals.

The School has achieved remarkable results in talent cultivation, and its students have won numerous awards in various skill competitions in recent years. In the Henan Provincial "Challenge Cup" College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the students have won one special prize, one first prize and three second prizes at the provincial level; in the Henan Provincial Vocational College Skills Competition, they have obtained six first prizes and 15 second prizes; in the National Undergraduate Electronics Design Contest, they have secured two first prizes and three second prizes; and in the Belt and Road and BRICS Competition of Skills Development and Technology Innovation, they have earned one silver medal.

Both the CNC Project-based Programming, Simulation and Machining Technology and the Fundamentals of Mechanical Design have been rated as provincial-level high-quality open online courses. The Hydropower Stations and the Training Tutorial for Digital Electronic Technology Simulation have been included in the first batch of Henan Provincial Planned Textbooks for Vocational Education under the 14th Five-Year Plan.

The School places great emphasis on cultivating students' professional foundational capabilities and job-specific practical skills. It has partnered with a number of well-known enterprises to implement joint school-running programs and establish off-campus internship bases. Adhering to the educational philosophy of "Rigorous Teaching, Practical Orientation, Courageous Exploration, and Sustained Innovation", the professional teaching focuses on job skill training and strives to foster high-caliber technical and skilled talents that meet diverse industrial demands.
