Against the backdrop of the nation's vigorous development of transportation, the School of Traffic Engineering adheres to the Party's overall leadership and fulfills the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. Taking the construction of a strong transportation country and a strong transportation province as its mission, it closely aligns with the strategy of "Quality First, Connotative Development" of Henan Vocational College of Water Conservancy and Environment. Supported by the "Five Golden Elements" initiative, driven by teaching and research projects and skill competitions, the School integrates student development, faculty growth and institutional advancement to elevate the quality of its teaching staff and talent cultivation. It strives to build a distinctive school that boosts the College's high-quality development and exerts a notable influence in the transportation sector.

The School offers seven majors, namely Intelligent Transportation Technology, Urban Rail Transit Engineering Technology, Urban Rail Vehicle Application Technology, Urban Rail Transit Operation and Management, Road and Bridge Engineering Technology, Municipal Engineering Technology, and Road Maintenance and Management, with over 1,500 full-time enrolled students. The School further advances the integration of industry and education, and has established in-depth cooperation with over 30 industry-leading enterprises inside and outside the province, including Henan Hengjian Testing Co., Ltd., Shandong Huacheng Nuclear Construction Engineering Service Co., Ltd., and Wuhan Ruijin Railway Technology Co., Ltd. It has built a diversified collaborative education platform, making remarkable contributions to the construction of a strong transportation country and the development of local economy and society.

II. Faculty Strength Fostering educational talents, laying a solid foundation for modern education
The School boasts a strong and well-structured faculty team, with a total of 30 faculty and staff members, including 23 full-time teachers, seven student affairs administrators, four professors and associate professors, and 27 teachers holding a master's degree or above. The School has three members of the national-level teaching innovation team, and 14 high-level professionals such as technical leaders recognized by the Education Department of Henan Province, key teachers of Henan Province, excellent teachers of Henan Province, provincial-level famous teachers of vocational colleges in Henan Province, and famous teachers in ideological and political teaching of vocational colleges in Henan Province. It has a team of "dual-qualified" teachers with solid academic grounding and extensive practical experience, including 22 such teachers certified in Henan's vocational education system.
III. Major Offerings Adopting the future-oriented layout, forging a strong driving force for high-quality development
(I) Municipal Engineering Technology
This major aims to cultivate highly skilled talents with comprehensive professional quality and practical competence, targeting occupations such as construction engineering technicians in the civil engineering and construction industry. Graduates are competent in on-site construction, test and detection, and organizational management of small and medium-sized municipal roads, bridges, pipelines, utility tunnels and other projects, as well as the repair, maintenance and management of municipal facilities. Closely aligned with industrial demands, the major highlights practical ability training, focuses on fostering innovative awareness and sustainable development capability, and delivers application-oriented talents with strong employability and professional literacy to the municipal, water conservancy and transportation engineering sectors.

(II) Road and Bridge Engineering Technology
This major aims to cultivate highly skilled talents for the technical and project management positions in the road, tunnel and bridge engineering and construction industry, who are competent in road and bridge engineering survey, construction organization, construction quality inspection, engineering project management, work safety management and other related work. Guided by industrial demands and closely aligned with the latest development trends of the road and bridge engineering industry, the major courses keep pace with industrial standards and technical specifications, featuring strong practicality and interdisciplinary integration.

(III) Intelligent Transportation Technology
This major aims to cultivate highly skilled talents with comprehensive professional quality and practical competence, targeting positions in the road transportation industry such as road traffic operation and control, transportation engineering project management, and traffic information collection and data processing. Graduates are competent in the installation, debugging, operation and maintenance of road intelligent transportation systems, digital management of transportation engineering projects, as well as traffic big data analysis and processing. As an emerging major established to follow the development trend of smart transportation, it closely focuses on cutting-edge technical fields including artificial intelligence, big data and the Internet of Things, and is committed to nurturing high-quality skilled talents who master core competencies such as the installation, debugging, operation and maintenance of intelligent transportation systems, intelligent transportation engineering project management, as well as traffic data analysis and application.

(IV) Urban Rail Transit Engineering Technology
This major aims to cultivate highly skilled talents with comprehensive professional quality and practical competence, targeting positions such as rail engineering construction, engineering detection, infrastructure maintenance and engineering project management in the urban rail transit engineering industry. Graduates are capable of undertaking urban rail transit engineering survey, line design, construction management, quality inspection, facility maintenance and safety management.

(V) Road Maintenance and Management
Listed as a shortage major in vocational education corresponding to Henan Province's key industries in 2024, this major cultivates high-quality technical and skilled talents for occupational groups such as road traffic engineering technicians in the road transportation industry. Graduates are competent in highway test and detection, highway inspection and evaluation, road maintenance management and other related work. Guided by industrial demands and closely aligned with the latest development trends of the road maintenance and management industry, the major courses keep pace with industrial standards and technical specifications, featuring strong practicality and interdisciplinary integration. It boasts enormous market demands and highly promising employment prospects.

(VI) Urban Rail Transit Operation and Management
This major aims to cultivate highly skilled talents with comprehensive professional quality and practical competence, targeting post (post groups) such as passenger service, ticketing management, passenger transportation organization and train operation organization in the urban rail transit industry. Graduates are competent in equipment operation and maintenance, passenger service, ticketing affairs processing, passenger flow guidance, train operation and emergency disposal of unexpected incidents. Closely focusing on the "Five Golden Elements" new infrastructure, it has further advanced major construction, promoted the integrated education of "posts, courses, competitions and certificates", and established a distinctive curriculum system oriented to post capabilities and supported by school-enterprise collaborative education. It has co-founded an urban rail transit industry college with well-known enterprises, integrating enterprise post standards into curriculum design.

IV. Teaching Conditions Strengthening capacity-building education, constructing a sound ecosystem of high-quality resources
Based on industrial demands, the School has built an integrated comprehensive training platform featuring "teaching-learning-research-evaluation-training". It has established more than 10 on-campus training venues, including the Road and Bridge Model Training Ground, the Highway Engineering Construction Simulation Training Center, the Road and Bridge Engineering Simulation Training Center, the Engineering Geology Laboratory, the Road Construction Materials Laboratory, the Asphalt Mixture Laboratory, and the Compression and Permeability Laboratory. With a total training room area of 1,200 m2 and up to 200 sets of training equipment, the School has realized a four-in-one teaching model integrating "classrooms-training rooms-bases-posts", striving to cultivate students' patriotic feelings and innovative capabilities.




V. Departmental Honors Nurturing talents through competitions, strengthening practical education for professional skill refinement
Faculty members of the School have achieved remarkable results, winning 35 college-level honors, 12 department-level honors, 10 provincial-level honors, and six national-level honors and achievements. Among these achievements, the course Road Construction Materials has been rated as an approved project for the construction of National Online Premium Courses for Vocational Education, and five national planned textbooks for vocational education have been compiled. More than 140 academic papers and patents have been published, and over 90 scientific research projects at or above the college level have been completed.
The School takes skill competitions as a pivotal approach to fostering practice-oriented talents. In recent years, faculty and students of the School have won more than 50 awards in competitions, including the National Vocational College Skills Competition, the Higher Vocational Education Skills Competition, the Henan Provincial Teaching Ability Competition, the Henan Provincial "Challenge Cup" College Students Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition, and the College Students Entrepreneurship Plan Competition. The employment quality of graduates is outstanding: the employment placement rate of graduates has exceeded 98% for three consecutive years. A number of graduates have won the Excellence Award for Primary-level Employment of College Graduates in Henan Province. They have been reported by mainstream media such as Henan Daily, thereby gaining high recognition from all sectors of society.
